Project Details

This was a 4-month contract.

While I usually stick to B2C contracts involving native development with Swift, I had to make an exception. Given my military background, I understand the pain points experienced by those in uniform. This is a team solving those painful problems with a forward-looking eye for delightful user experiences. So I made the jump to help. As with most early-stage startups, there were no shortages of work to be done.

Across the entire project span, I provided help with project management. This included a lot of process development with the founders and time spent in Product Board to track needs.

The operations productivity suite required front-end development work using react.js. This included building several page components for a scheduling and training application. Nothing super complex, but still enjoyable to build.

Over on the mobile side, Mustr leveraged my experience in launching mobile products. I had the opportunity to get my feet wet with new cross-platform development technology. The last time I did any of that was when I started Moonlit. At that time I used PhoneGap. This time I got to use the latest hotness, Flutter.

Cross-platform development has its challenges, but remains a good solution for certain goals. I don't expect to make the exception again, but it's hard to know when a project will hit you at the gut level like this one.

This is a team that's going to make a tremendous dent in areas long-ignored. I can't wait to see how it all turns out!
